ah yes i totally love how the front-end application at my last job let people just change policy numbers in place with no way for me to know that happened except that my audit controls are now failing because the policy count no longer matches to the source and target

SOX: Sarbanes-Oxley financial reporting and certification requirements (US) GDPR: General Data Protection Regulation (EU), regulates how user information can be collected, retained and used ASBJ: Accounting Standards Board of Japan (JP obviously), umbrella term for accounting compliance in Japan

We have it all documented in the site bible (binder in the bottom of a locked drawer no one has looked at this century, disaster recovery processes still refer to offsite storage for punchcard stacks)

One random ass perl script someone slopped together over a weekend two decades ago is usually only protecting the company from one major compliance violation.
