I don't think it gets said out loud enough that unlearning the bias that society places in everyone by default is hard work. Not only do you have to put in the time and effort you also gotta understand what those biases are and how they manifest in you specifically.
I didn't just wake up one day and all of a sudden I don't use the r-slur, ten years ago I had to be like okay I'm cutting this out of my vocabulary and focused on it until it felt natural to speak that way. I had enough folks in my orbit (and family) with autism even back in 2012 where I felt like this was important to do.
I certainly wouldn't have gotten over many of my unconscious biases if I hadn't met so many diverse folks online over the years. People are just people (and sometimes those people are funny animals)
I don't know where I'm going with this, this is a before bedtime thought. Just don't be a dipshit and rise above it. Understand that by being human you are fallible by definition, but you can always strive to improve and put in that work
