Well.... technically they built a new bridge which is the Mario Cuomo Memorial Bridge and demolished the Tappan Zee after it was completed
i know they built the new one, i remember they talked about how much it made tolls go up
i don't remember if i ever went across the old one, but i thought it was just "the new tappan zee bridge"
So because this was all near the corner of north jersey i didn't grow up in I wasn't too appraised of the situation until I had to cross the new bridge and saw the old one in the midst of being demolished so I'm not totally sure about the timeline of events.
