Threads isn't launching in the EU, almost definitely because of the EU's data protection laws.
If that Red Flag was any bigger you could roll it out and use it as a carpet at movie premieres
Edit: Holy fucking shit they want literally every piece of data about you https://www.theregister.com/2023/07/05/threads_comes_to_uk/
It's owned by facebook so that's an automatic hard pass for me regardless of anything else about it
i mean the thing about bsky is that although jack "i'm a complete fuckhead" dorsey funded bsky, he doesn't have any control over it (unless i guess he threatens to pull funding if they don't do something but i don't know if funding actually works like that)
threads is zuck's little corner of hell like twitter is musk's
He is a third of the board and chose the CEO. That’s a bit more than “he doesn’t have any control”.
idk then, i just haven’t seen any examples of him exerting control, but i’ve seen plenty of examples of him going on nostr to shit on bluesky.
i think social media might just be broadly a bad thing where any capital is involved.

Yes
i just haven’t seen any examples of him exerting control,
The thing has been public for barely a year, idk "he hasn't done anything shitty yet" is a particularly high bar to clear for him lmao
tbh a big part of this is that Jack Dorsey's too much of a kook to inspire genuine menace. my fav Dorsey belief is that his principled stand against NFTs is because he's specifically a bitcoin maximalist
