github might be one of the least intutitive sites to download anything from to a non-tech expert and what's particularly frustrating is the tech expert types seemingly having no clue that github is INCREDIBLY hard to parse
seriously, look at this screenshot (for example) and tell me where im supposed to click to download what i need
yea it took me years to realize you just click on 'releases'. but also i cant really blame people for using it as file hosting because the free alternatives are like an unmarked mediafire link or a google drive link where you have to log in to a google account to access it. indie devs are being left in the dust here just as much as users unfamilliar with github are
Not every project publishes releases, either, it's good to have the source code but please for the love of god do what the old internet did and host a website where someone can download a compiled version of your thing.
