this is why we must always stand firm and say no to all comedy show revivals
wow... I've seen some pretty fucked up fake descriptions of episodes of this show past season 5, when it ended, but this takes the cake
id ask if bender is going to get an ipad but they already did that 13 years ago at this point
i promise it's not as bad as it sounds. the episode's biggest issue is that it kinda loses the plot in the last third. imo the bitcoin stuff is kinda lukewarm at worst.
the episode was mocking crypto for being a scam and for how it exploits people... that description is... on its face technically accurate but also so misleading
oh i actually had assumed it would be anti-crypto— can’t see a show like Futurama doing something like that for any other reason.
my point is more that these shows needing to be topical always end up jarring harshly from their original context, the thing that ppl originally liked them for. feels like a really common thing for ALL kinds of shows tbh, not just comedy (altho feels more obvious with comedy imo)
oh i misunderstood! i get what you mean i think. that's part of why i dropped the Animaniacs reboot. i think in Futurama's case it worked, but then again it was already feeling a little awkward at points in that episode.
