Hey so this post brought to you by me accidentally hitting the insert key on my keyboard.

Does anyone prefer the "overtype" behavior? I realize it's a holdover from the oldschool IBM personal computers of the 80s. I feel like the common sentiment these days is "oh god i hit insert i didn't mean to do that oh no"

I have never used overtype behavior productively on purpose, but at the same time every time I hit insert by accident and my computer doesn't switch into overtype mode I get very confused

My laptop keyboard has a hardware fault that maps some pairs of keys to each other, which is extremely annoying, and the most annoying part of it is that some key that is infrequently used is mapped to insert and I have no idea which one it is
