I'm fine, and I'll be healed up in a few days, but also this is a good opportunity for a public service announcement: a few years ago I sprained my ankle and couldn't walk for a week and, at the time, I got a cheap cane at a local drug store; not only did it let me mostly resume living normally two weeks earlier than I would've been able to otherwise, it's come in handy about half a dozen times since then for minor injuries that made it painful or difficult to walk unaided
fellow able-bodied people who like walking: you might want to get a cane now so you already have it when you need it
yep! seconding all this; for the first couple of days I was using it at the wrong height for me (it's still about an inch or two short of where it really should be; the adjustment range maxes out at the right height for people who are about 6') and I could already feel my strong hip and the joints in my back getting sore from being off-balance.
also adding that you may want to practice a bit with the cane ahead of time as well; one thing I didn't really appreciate until I was using it is that your wrist is a much weaker joint than your hip, and you need to be fairly adept at putting weight on it gently or else your arm will tire very quickly.
yeah I thought I had a mobility disability for a year or two before learning that the cane I bought to help was actually just poorly fitted/poorly used so was exacerbating a temporary injury into a chronic condition. once I stopped using that cane and started being active all of that hip/mobility issues dissipated within a few months. another example of this is how the actor behind Dr. House, who was directed to use a poorly fitted cane with a limp for years, ended up developing a limp/mobility issues due to that cane use.
so. tiny soap box. canes are medical equipment and should be treated as such, please be careful and make sure yours is fitted properly and that you know what you're doing. ideally at least touch base with a medical provider if you can.
He liked the look of the wood cane but it was fucking up his joints so Cuddy bullies him into using one of those metal ones with the four feet and he HATES it the entire episode
