i've received my first sample of the commercial Glasgow Interface Explorer run for evaluation

it is beyond excellent. it exceeds any standard I could possibly have for it. the team (1bitSquared and everyone else who collaborated) working on it deserves the highest praise

i often see people refer to Glasgow as "my" project, and while i did start it, i do not have the diverse set of skills and resources necessary to bring a hardware manufacturing run to completion. others have, probably, done more work on it than i did, and this work is excellent

the photographs do not do it justice. this is about as close as you can get to Apple level of finish, if you do not have Apple level of money. i have never imagined that i will be honored with such an investment of effort into what started as a small and a little silly project

  • if you assemble it right (using a square) you can barely feel the seam between the halves
  • the LEDs are bright and cleary distinct thanks to light pipes
  • the E-STOP button is clicky with a report you will not miss or mistake
  • the custom cable assemblies are exactly what I wished for

this has been in the making since january 2018. you cannot imagine how it feels to ship it at last

Compared to Glasgow I only got a glimpse of what it’s like to ship a mass produced hardware product with a multi year delay. So I hope it’s that, but much better. Congrats to you, 1bitSquared and all the other collaborators on making it happen.

as someone who pledged to the campaign and has been quietly watching and waiting, it's been nice to see it all coming together, despite the setbacks!

i'm probably not going to be a big power user (don't do as much electronics as i used to), but i do love a nice tool, and this project gave me the impression it would be one from the start tbh

I'm so excited to get mine. Yes, it's been a while, but it will prompt me to get back into some projects I have left on the back-burner too long.
