I got my PCB order in the mail and immediately soldered one of the 4 designs. It's a PMOD with a CH32V003 microcontroller. I can use this to connect a tiny processor to a FPGA board to do stuff that is easier to do in software.
Though I primarily made this as a design exercise. I wanted to try out the smallest variant of the chip, so I made a board so tiny it's a bit silly.
how did you solder these? home reflow oven, hot air, or a soldering iron? because if you did them by hand I'm more impressed by the 0201 LEDs than the chip
I used a stencil, paste, and a tiny MHP30 USB-C hotplate. I also have a bigger one for larger pcbs, but this one is a bit nicer if the pcb fits.
In my experience I can rework 0402 components with a regular soldering iron, but it’s not really fun.
oh those are 0402s? I guess I overestimated how tiny the chip was
and yeah, doing 0402 rework by hand is a miserable experience
