tumblr posts don’t have visible timestamps — you have to press a button and only then will it show you an absolute timestamp

maybe I’m alone on this one, but I feel like a timestamp can give important context to a post

and in a broader sense when scrolling the feed, not having timestamps feels like I’m stuck in a casino with no clocks

it’s a micro decision that speaks to the platform’s intentions

cohost is a place that respects your time
tumblr wants to keep you scrolling

Early tumblr was a lot more like cohost in that regard, and that’s why I did my first stint of photo posting there. But Twitter got big, tumblr got an algorithmic timeline, and I stopped posting there.

I tried again a year ago, but it didn’t feel the same.

And then they announced that they were feeding all my posts to midjourney and I deleted all my stuff.
