I've never used gel, but I would recommend checking out r/ftm if you haven't already. It's not just for guys.

Just to clear something up (and apologies if you knew this): from what I understand, gel effects aren't necessarily slower than via injection. Both will depend on dosage and your personal absorption rate. Any good provider will listen to your desire to move slow and start you on a low dose and monitor your levels. Gel may be a little more expensive (at least in the US), but it might be worth it to you! It's up to what you're comfortable with.

Hopefully someone with personal experience with gel can chime in though!

Hi! I got put on Tgel between 2020-2022 with a dosage equivalent to 50mg injection every 2 weeks (for gel, I applied 2 pumps to my shoulders every night). I can't recall the specific numbers , but I think that my T levels reduced to half the amount I had when I was on intramuscular injections. I am now back on intramuscular injections. This is just my experience, and others may find gel more effective in terms of higher T levels. You mileage may and probably will vary!

Despite gel providing me with a lower dose of testosterone, it was a more consistent level of testosterone since I applied it every day, and it also maintained all of the changes I expereinced when on intramuscular injections, including no mensturation. The biggest difference I can recall is that I thought my head hair had a healthier, thicker appearence on gel than when I am on injections (which would make sense if the hair loss/thinning was T related). Additionally, my gel was quite expensive compared to my intramuscular shots; prior to gel, my shots were free with my insurance. When I switched to gel, I think it was about 40-ish dollars for a 3 month supply?

The gel I had was some kind of generic; not sure who manufacuterd it off the top of my head, but when I get back from vacation, I can take a picture of the bottle for you!

I assume that, because gel was a less-effective method of delivering testosterone for me, if I wanted to start out slowly or do something similar to microdosing, I would theoretically start with gel. All of this is best done in collaboration with a trans-informed & HRT-informed doctor and/or endochronologist to help document changes and monitor T levels with you.

Hope this helps!

thank you thank you!!! i would love to know the gel you used whenever you're able to lemme know!! i should definitely get myself a doctor to help me with my T levels when I get the time to actually start T.... It's a little finicky to find a proper doctor that wont refuse you in the south </3
