i get people asking "why don't you just leave cohost if you hate it so much" and i don't know how many times i can explain that i follow some people i like here, i have had some nice conversations here, and that if i wasn't getting something out of being here then yeah i absolutely would just post my cohost meta thoughts elsewhere and not deal with being here. i'm not going to stop getting the bits of enjoyment i do get from here just because people get pissy that i criticize the place. i've criticized every piece of social media i've ever been on, they all kinda fucking suck just to different degrees. but i'm sorry that people are incapable of understanding that i am a real person who does make human connections and does enjoy things and am not a cartoon internet troll. most of my positive interactions with cohost as a site are 1) reading people's posts and 2) having conversations in comments (because i'm largely on social media for the social part) so if you just look at my profile that is 99% meta posts yeah you're not gonna see that i do anything else here. i do though.
A quick analogy that I left as a comment to someone but I think would be good to attach to this post:
I used to meet up with friends at a local game shop to play TCGs. We hated the shop. The owner sucked ass, the prices were godawful. But we met up there because we liked to play together! Eventually there were other places in the area to play cards and we were able to stop going there, but if someone told us to stop going there if we hated it so bad, they completely misunderstood why we went.
