The Fungus Zone Blog

Seriously, some parts of the city are fantastic for getting around and there's people who are making real efforts to make biking safer here... but a lot of it is an uphill battle against the priorities of individual boroughs and infrastructure that is incredibly hostile to pedestrians and bikers, sometimes literally right as you step out of a metro station.

(Fun fact: I live in the borough mentioned at the 32 min mark where they added the lanes, removed them, and brought them back! The backlash was, and still is, pretty wild. You can actually find the full study (53MB PDF) they commissioned here if you're curious what $150k gets you!)

We're a long way from being truly great, and there's a lot we need to reckon with in the hopes of making our streets truly safe for everyone.
