i've been brainstorming a couple of topics that i wanna write about in detail, some sort of Anhelo postmortem...

  • first one's all the programming and sequencing. i've come across a few people who were surprised when i told them that all of Anhelo is either heavily edited MIDI or directly clicked into the piano roll from scratch. i didn't think my MIDI programming was particularly strong prior to reading these comments, but i figured there's maybe enough interest in my process and how i go about things to write a dedicated section about it!! my current setup is terrible for live recording, and i have... serviceable piano chops at best, so i've developed a bunch of ways to "fake" it all.

  • 2nd topic i really wanna cover is a purely descriptive glossary of the little ornamentations and figures that one can find in Armenian music. there's a massive overlap between the ppl who are into our Infloresthetic & ppl who are into Tigran Hamasyan's music, so i wanna make a 3-way comparison of all these musical gestures that you can find in Armenian classical music, Tigram Hamasyan's music and my own Infloresce tracks. i think that'd be really fun!! just getting more ppl accustomed to noticing all of these motifs and riffs before segueing into talking about our music at a deeper level.

  • 3rd post where i write more broadly about Armenian music and its roots. our culture and history are heavily imbued with feelings of yearning and sorrow, and it ties deeply into Anhelo. i'd looove to share and talk about some of our most important folk music. this is also partially intended as a treat for all the Tigran fans out there, cause many of his tracks are straight up covers of our folk songs!!

there's some other topics that would be great to cover, but i'm constantly reassessing my own technical knowledge about all of this and i'd only wanna get into those subjects that i'm confident about. for now tho, i'm gonna take the weekend off to visit my nephew, do some internet detox and rest as much as i can :)

P.S.: listen to Anhelo thank you >:)
