hello cohost! I’m planning a trip to toronto in september and I’ve never been before. I’ll have 2 days to myself to do fun stuff, any recommendations? outside of nightlife I like almost anything but in particular:

  • museums
  • parks and gardens
  • cute cafes especially with desserts and tea
  • vintage shops
  • cute shops (books, records, and stationary in particular)

I haven't been in a long time so most of my recommendations are very outdated, but a few bookstore recommendations:

  • The Beguiling is a fantastic indie comic store.
  • Bakka-Phoenix is maybe Canada's oldest sci-fi bookstore, and a fun place to look.
  • Glad Day is a great institution, and the oldest surviving gay bookstore in the world.

I was there for a wedding in July 2012 (I remember this because I happened to be looking at photos today). The only things I did besides go to the wedding were go up CN Tower (meh, not really an improvement over the space needle) and take a day trip to Niagara Falls. But I do highly recommend the falls!! We did Maid of the Mist!

  • The ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) has a great geology exhibit and some fun dinosaur skeletons. It's a huge museum so you could easily spend a day there
  • High Park is fairly lovely all summer and early autumn
  • The beaches on Center Island are great to visit if it's a warm day (less likely in September, alas)
  • Kensington Market is like the place to find weird little cafes and dessert shops, and its near Chinatown too
  • There's lots of cute shops on Queen St and College St
