Miorine is no one's friend; she is a turbo-isolated, turbo-privileged teen made into an object of exchange who, I'm pretty sure, literally does not know what friendship is. She still frames her life in the terms that were imposed onto her — she permits herself to be vulnerable with the Holder, but that's her only real intimate relationship. She allows herself familiarity with Earth House, but she has to frame her presence as CEO-employer.

(Pretty stoked to see her finding out what being a full-rounded, emotionally mature sapient is like.)

extra fun fact: Suletta is also a turbo-isolated teen made into an object of exchange (and of revenge, unwittingly). She channels her isolation into freezing, fawning or fleeing rather than fighting, though, and her trauma into her flooring anxiety. She did know what friendship was, and had a familial environment to teach her caring and loyalty, but grew up without peers in maturity or age (amongst an older population) and thus doesn't know quite yet how to map those impulses to that environment. (Also, wouldn't recognize politics if it hit her square in the jaw.) So, she can be your friend, she just doesn't know how to friend with her peers yet.
