prickly pear, juniper, and a lone pine tree frame hills and distant mountains tüpippüh, "death valley" - salt-covered rocks and cloudy water fade off towards mountains in the far distance a motorcycle parked among immense rocky hills shaded by clouds a snowy road winds through tall, snow-covered conifers lit by the setting sun, a field of tall grass overlooks ascending rows of green mountains surrounded by deep green larch and spruce trees, a small waterfall tumbles over mossy rocks foggy mountains rise over a pond surrounded by tall conifers and autumn foliage

these are some of my favorite pictures from a year of living on a motorcycle, riding from coast to coast across the US - if anyone recognizes my motorcycle anywhere you're always welcome to come and say hello, I think it would be really cool -

I usually have to resupply in the closest town every week and a half, and I honestly don't eat much differently out here than I did when I had access to a bigger kitchen. Most of the time I end up eating rice with beans or lentils and fresh vegetables, and I use a stove that runs off of the gasoline from the bike so that I don't need to worry about carrying or finding propane bottles or anything like that. I can carry enough water for two days and I can also just filter it if I'm camping in an area that has a river or pond close by.
The second question is harder to answer - I've always wanted to do something like this and I've been saving and collecting gear and preparing for five or so years, but gaining the experience to know what worked for me and what I needed to be comfortable was a large part of that. I also made some of my own gear and did all of the modifications and setup for the motorcycle myself, which really helped.

thank you so much -
I hope you get a chance to sometime, living this way in a van is a lot less challenging in so many ways and if we had had the resources, it's probably what we would have ended up doing instead. I don't regret it at all either way, it gave us a chance to escape a lot of bad situations and see so many things we'd only ever dreamed of -
