the Pael are a venerable species from relatively near Earth in the galactic arm, who have been spacefaring for over 30,000 Earth years. we have strong FTL travel, infinite* energy, and functional immortality through religious-scientific resurrection. biologically, we're more closely related to mollusks (cuttlefish, snails) than anything else.
