It is often confusing to me whether someone I know online is someone who I'm allowed to randomly message in a "hey how's it going I hope your day's going well" fashion or if they're someone where that would be weird and uncomfortable.
there are DEFINITELY times where I've got it wrong in the sense of I could tell the person was "wtf is going on here?" but there's also probably times where I'm missing out on the chance to Have A Friend by not messaging them.
you know what's really hard? social situations and norms!
