objectively correct. the explanation embedded in my head (not sure where I first saw it) is that disk with a k describes a storage medium inside a shell, ie floppy disk and hard disk. And mediums that lack external enclosures are discs.

This raises many frightening questions, such as "would a DVD-RAM in a permanent cartridge be considered a disk, and furthermore what would you call a DVD-RAM in an optional, removable cartridge"
