realising after many decades that the main fanfares of the TNG theme and the DS9 theme both begin with the same four notes and feeling like this MUST be deliberate to give them a feeling of belonging together even though the vibes of the two themes are very different, and that's maybe kinda great?

Ok so I just watched the first ep of Picard season 3. What I'm struck with is the disconnect from the first two seasons. Like, they don't even use the theme music from them. (Although a couple of characters do recur)
I feel like this is deliberate, since those series kinda went super off the rails and were a mess. Although it remains to be seen whether that happens here too, haha.
Honestly mostly I am just glad that we know this is the final season. Because that way TNG has a final ending (even if it ends up silly). And I feel everyone's allergic to actually making endings these days, things either go forever or they're cut short. I guess it helps that there's other star trek things that won't be ending, lol.
