@geometric

there's a bit of cohost design vs twitter design that i've realized has somewhat negatively affected how i post

@Thew

yeahhhhh not having any way to chain a series of related thoughts together has kinda just chopped an entire mode of expression off of my life

threads were a perfect model for the way my thought processes work IRL, and just losing that altogether with no hope of an alternative has been really rough

in reply to @geometric's post:

idk it’s definitely a blessing and a curse. a chain of posts does make it easier to make something without seeking perfection, as well as to help people stay on top of it without spamming, but the catch is that the threads i have seen tend to stick in your head less than a good long post. for some reason a thread kinda content-ifies something that could’ve been an article and that always disheartens me

also a lot of threads have an absolutely atrocious writing style which i’ve only been noticing when looking back at some threads i’ve saved in read later apps. every single thread that i thought was important enough to save at the time was an awful experience to read and didn’t present information well and idk. maybe i’ve sorta talked myself into thinking that the thread was a net negative

I think at the very least Cohost would benefit greatly from an edit history feature, and in the case of rechosts, only show the version of the post that was initially rechosted, with an indicator at the bottom something like "this post has been edited since it was reposted. Click here to view the edit history" or "Click here to view the current version."
