Update bc this keeps getting notifications : I know it's still kinda broken sometimes

I finally updated my url tool to:

  • Turn "x.com" links back into twitter links
  • Add option to use youtube embed url to avoid ads in situations where you can't use an adblocker
  • Handle youtu.be urls correctly (oops)
  • Make it so u can click to copy finally

https://cervine.online/tools/url

Unfortunately this is way more useful on chrome & edge (stop using those!) because if you give it clipboard permission it'll just instantly replace your clipboard with the first 'fixed url' option... But Still
Firefox has the new 'copy without tracking' but that's only part of what this does

Hi, I think this is a very cool project. It seems like it still needs some work. I tried feeding it a sample "fucked" URL I encountered earlier:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=6klkak42WME

This URL was spat out by Google Image Search; the "app=desktop" does nothing and confuses ancillary tools such as https://www.get-youtube-thumbnail.com. (Note, I did not grant paste permission. I am fine with pasting, then copying back a new URL.)

The unfucker did not seem to handle this correctly. After pasting and pressing Go, I saw:

Screenshot

There are three problems:

  1. The "copy" buttons look malformed. They seem to have an icon which is larger than the space the icons are displayed in.
  2. Clicking the copy buttons had no effect, at all.
  3. (Conceptual) I am not shown the URL, so I can review it before copying. This may be an intentional design choice.

Additionally, my inspector shows this at url/:1 on page load — probably expected since I denied clipboard access.

Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: Read permission denied.
Promise.then (async)
getClipText @ url/:469
(anonymous) @ url/:475

I am using 119.0.6045.159 64-bit on Windows 10. uBlock Origin is enabled

Ok, thanks for this, I guess it kinda doesn't fail gracefully. It's really just some shit javascript that finds and replaces text for specific types of urls I know about, but I guess the way it finds things should be modified to match up with what it can do better (it just checks if it's a youtube url and then does some stuff, so in this case it found a youtube url, but not one it knows anything to do with, so tried to do some stuff and failed)

I will fix it......sometime
