listen if your operating system doesn't support modern image formats you can simply dual-boot into your dedicated linux image editing partition

windows users being frustrated that a computer thing wasn't designed for them is lowkey blowing my mind
But Eevee, don't you know that Windows is the only operating system that lets you Get Shit Done??? And every FOSS solution is janky and unstable, unlike the reasonably priced and perfectly crafted Adobe Creative Suite?
Edit: excuse me, I forgot you can't even buy the Adobe Creative Suite anymore, lol, the Adobe Creative *Cloud™️
it's like learning about plato's allegory of the cave by hearing people tell you how much they love Plato's Cave 10
it was hubris to demand a 257th color and now we stand atop a modern Tower of Babel
tbh if ie6 hadn't frozen image support at png, jpg, gif for like a decade then we might have a richer set of image formats and it might even be common for windows to add support for new ones (or make thumbnailing pluggable!)
so annoying when i try to download some audio and it's a fucking ogg vorbis. after doing none research i have concluded that it confers no benefits over good ol mp3 and wav, and will now speak this incontrovertible fact with confidence to anyone who will listen
(putting this as a comment here because it feels WAY too petty to post where many people will see it lol)
I love vorbis but storage is too abundant to worry about how efficient lossy audio is for me.
Also it tended to use more battery on my portable media player, despite the file size savings :(
