yknow, as much as croc is a foundational early childhood game for me, (alongside lego rock raiders) i don't think i have ever actually in my life completed the entire thing from beginning to end before. the period where i was fixated on it was during those years where i had an absolutely crippling fear of Enemies In Video Games; after the combined efforts of me trying to beat sections/levels that did not Have enemies and then begging my parents to try to beat others for me, that got me as far as halfway through world 1. the only way i was able to progress from there was by randomly entering passwords until i happened to get one that put me at the second to last level of the game, and from there i just shuffled back through and tried to find levels that weren't too scary for my child brain

by the time i truly Became Gamer and started being able to look An Enemy square in the eye (something super mario sunshine eventually forced into me), croc had fallen into the past and i just never revisited it that often. the last time i played it several years back, i got sidetracked doing corruptions on the ps1 version (some of which actually made it on vinny vinesauce's stream eventually, which was a fun surprise) before ever reaching the end. so finally actually completing the game 100% feels nice, like the next best thing i can do for my child self since i can't time travel back to beat levels for them
