yknow if there's any silver lining, at least there's no uncertainty. we're not all clinging desperately to the mast waiting to see whether the ship really does go under. we have definitive answers, a concrete timeline, and we can skip past the panic and the dread and just actually start the process of grieving. and we can properly mourn because for the most part we can probably agree that, for its flaws, it was still on the whole good that cohost existed

oh yeah i guess there's pillowfort also??? which i never really developed an opinion on because there wasn't a big enough critical mass of people i knew migrating? https://www.pillowfort.social/mira_drgn# please note that currently this account contains two "hmm is it time to use the website..?" posts, one reblogged piece of dragon pornography, and one reblogged piece of dragon not-pornography

opened mastodon to a timeline entirely composed of content warnings over completely benign things and just. man. i dont think i can do it over there

having a place to write big low-stakes posts for a small but comfortable audience was something i was getting used to so it kinda fuckin sucks to lose that now. my masto instance has functionally unlimited characters but anything you write on there is still going to be presented in the context of a twitter-esque timeline not built to accommodate lots of text. plus there's no fuckin formatting, and no readmores which for me are a huge deal because i can give enough of a slice at the start for somebody to decide whether they're interested, or add post-scripts as desired

i guess if i want to maintain a longform Posting space in my life at this point the only real option is tumblr, but god, i really don't want to go on tumblr again. it is a site culture i'm just not interested in learning and immersing myself in. or starting "a blog" but i feel like there is an expected standard of quality with "blogging" over "posting," because a "blog" is something somebody chooses to visit and read in particular and a "post" is something that gets blasted into somebody's face because the went to your page and opened the "yes please blast me whenever" valve

anyway yeah! idunno! sucks! every other online space is a downgrade and i wish i could just willingly abandon social media entirely but i am still afraid of the very legitimate possibility that if i stop posting anywhere i will simply vanish and never talk to anyone on the internet again

i'll try to get a more succinct and definitive contact info post up soon but i guess for now @mira@dragon.style is... extant. i have a public twitter but i do not use it anymore and my private twitter does contain Horny so i'll probably share it on my AD page instead. i have been utterly obstinate in my desire not to make a bluesky but i guess we'll see if that resolve holds out
