vinland saga's anime feels like a proof of concept for a full berserk adaptation. not to undermine VS's source material since it's really good story, it's just that there's a lot here which suggests interest in or inspiration from berserk, particularly the soundtrack which blends ambient electronic with conventional instrumental arrangements

though, once the actual production process gets squared away, there are still big questions that will need to get answered. is hirusawa involved? what will be the line drawn for content to be cut? where is the story going to end?

berserk is simultaneously a property that's had a substantial impact on the japanese games, comics, and animation industry, but is also a very complicated thing to adapt. it's only been taken on so far by studios whose leads have more ambition than good sense

The original anime will always have a place in my heart even if it is highly imperfect. I feel of all the attempts out there it was the one that came closest to capturing the general vibe. You really can't beat an OST by Susumu Hirasawa.
