any conversations around shows like shield hero or jobless reincarnation will usually end up the same way: indignant elementary school-level philosophy to excuse the author's weird worldviews, or outright reactionary behavior. either way, it's the kind of person who doesn't want to admit any guilty feelings about the media they're consuming

I've enjoyed shows like maid dragon and made in abyss, but both have varying degrees of authors who can barely hide their very bad sexual fascinations, so I don't really recommend or show them to other people because I know that they will probably (justifiably) not be willing to compartmentalize that part of the work and might question my tastes as a result

(I've definitely chosen not to pay attention to most anitubers with how wholeheartedly they've recommended shield hero and jobless reincarnation)

if you consume media where you know there's indisputably some bad shit in it, then just keep it to yourself or only show it to people who you know are okay with that kind of thing. I don't care about the type of person who outright likes the overt conservatism and misogyny of those big-name isekai series, at least they're honest with themselves about the kind of disgusting people they are. don't try to convince me those series are a dissemination or deconstruction of these ideas, you're lying to me and yourself
