edgerunners is good. trigger's problem is that their writers are few and/or bad so you get high-concept settings with dull stories that need to lean on the exquisite animation. across the stuff nakayama has written (TTGL, KLK, promare), I mentally check out halfway through because the guy cannot write interesting characters and frequently cannibalizes his own material
(there are other teams in the company who have done far more interesting work)
that doesn't matter here, because cyberpunk is a kit for generating template crime drama stories, a creative team just needs to insert all the other things. so it's perfect for trigger
the high point is easily episode 6, it's where they get to use a lot of vivid, surrealist imagery to tell a character story almost entirely through visuals
