my friends and I do vrchat stuff sometimes, a few play weekly but most of us just check in every month or two as a weekend excursion

we were looking at the release of resonite today, which is an offshoot of neosVR (because the devs weren't down with the crypto weirdos in charge). I'd never tried neos, and to my knowledge this is effectively the same thing

I streamed it to my group, of which there's a few longtime SL players who immediately noticed a lot of similarities in style and functionality. it's very "90s/2000s dreams of virtual reality," which is a mood I haven't experienced in games (vrchat is much closer to the industrial feel of gmod or tower unite)

there's also a big focus on building things within the game like SL, rather than vrc having you make things in unity to port into the game. I get that this is an appeal for some, but it asks for a level of passive expertise in these systems, in contrast to vrc putting that stuff under the hood for developers

also yeah, performance is not great. I had to take a break for a good 30-60 minutes after an hour with it. hard to know who the game is for right now
