I cold brewed some decaf coffee aiming for a 1:8 ratio by weight (ended up in two separate jars but one was 1:7 and the other 1:9; close enough, probably) and it made some good-ass concentrate enjoyable with milk.

I did have some ratio anxiety since online recipes are like “I dunno, 1:4. Or 1:10! Or 1:3 by whole bean volume. Or 1:13 if you wanna make coffee not concentrate.” The vagueness just gave me jitters (much like some cold brew) so I quiet-yelled a little and then recruited @tekgo to help calm me down and together we managed to accomplish the tasks of starting (yesterday) and decanting (today).

Tea log:

  • 1 sachet steven smith british brunch, consumed early in the morning since i had disability mussar class today at 8 in the freakin AM (time zones~!)
  • yesterday's zomba pearls, also during zoom class at home
  • this doesn't have a beverage associated but i had a phone interview somewhere in here and I think it went well! Then i left for an adventure to get my brain reset and it started raining as i was on the bus.
  • iron buddha oolong milk tea with brown sugar boba from rabbit rabbit, hot, consumed on a bench under an overhang in the rain--i forgot how weird hot boba is, and also learned that what i actually want from there is 75% sugar not 50%, but the beverage base was delicious and i will probably get it again.
  • then i went home, and now i'm drinking a shoumei sample from white2tea as i think about what to do next, trying to balance responsibility (jewsletter isn't gonna write itself) with rest (i did so much this morning) and ending up on socials media instead

Last night @tekgo and I made rhubarb vanilla syrup! it's good but a little one-note by itself in a soda--would make a perfect lemonade though, and this morning I discovered it's quite good in tea since the tea brings some bitter notes to the pink sweetness.

I think I'm going to do a soda with hrmrmrmmrmr cardamom bitters maybe next
