I was afraid of hospitals as a kid. Now I'm not afraid of them and medicine and biology are cool.1
I don't ever have art deadlines so it was a fun exercise to work within a time limit. I started about 2 weeks ago, so a speedrun pace for me.
In college I actually almost pivoted to trying to become a doctor
I really love this -- it brought back memories (in a surprisingly good way, for such a generally bad time) of when I had a long hospitalization a few years ago. All the mysterious medical stuff on the walls overlaid by the colorful abstraction is really... speaking to something in me.
Oh wow thank you for sharing this is really touching. I had started to write up longer thoughts on hospitals and medicine for this but but ended up scraping it for a short two sentences. I’ll maybe get around to adding my thoughts sometime but I’m so glad this piece works for you
