This car is a beautiful color, but the picture works better in black and white. If I was more pretentious, I'd extrapolate that into a lesson we could all learn about capital-P Photography, and if I was even more pretentious than that, I'd pretend like I was above doing that while doing it anyway. And if I was even more pretentious than that...

Every time I see one of these I think about how Elvis had one and it wouldn't start one day (or he just couldn't figure out how to start it because he was drunk) so he shot it with a gun.

There’s a family legend about my grandfather trying to drive the family to church one day and the car wouldn’t start, and Grandma took the kids and started walking because “that car of yours” broke down again, and Grandpa took the starter crank and beat the car.

At least that’s the version of the tale I remember; no idea how much truth there is in it or how much it’s been embellished or how many different stories I’m conflating.

But it makes the Elvis anecdote relatable.
