in a way, the chaos of the twitter-collapse diaspora is weirdly comforting?
like, i already had a spectrum of relationships with people on twitter, some closer than others, but all valued.
sometimes, on the farther side of that spectrum, i would even confuse two or more posters for each other.
now, with different users joining cohost, masto, etc., under different names, even if i refollow them in their new locations in the present, even if i get to continue experiencing them as them, it's even less likely i'll remember our entire history.
naturally, that makes me sad, but also not. sort of like being reincarnated with all of your homies. it sucks that we lost what we had, but we're still ourselves, even if we don't remember. we get to make new memories with our favorite people all over again.
