I like that it's there. The three rear-view mirror lines and the comment after you pick up the gun show off some of the inner workings of the player character and even hint at his possible decision to abandon the case later.

yeah that’s ultimately why i left it in, because it does serve a purpose. it’s actually quite funny how much dialogue got cut out. originally the mc had much more of a character, with in-depth conversations and everything. even had dialogue options. obviously all of this was cut.

That's so interesting! The game really has no superfluous components (apart from the Shoot-Out! callback, but that one is just fun) so I think you did a great job. :)
