i loved elden beast so much as a final boss because it’s such a lowkey and beautiful and almost melancholic fight against probably the most beautiful and alien thing from has ever made. and, critically, it’s not all that hard. radagon is a problem, sure, but elden beast isn’t. to see shadow of the erdtree completely revert back to this incredibly predictable “PREPARE TO DIE” ass final boss seems like a really unpleasant reminder that everything from got right in the base game was most likely a fluke rather than the beginning of a new evolution in their design philosophy
