first time i saw Ran i was just cruising around some streaming services trying to find something to watch. i think i was on prime when i thought “wonder if they have any kurosawa” and the only one they had was Ran, i decided to throw it on while my wife puttered around the house doing some chores (im a bad lazy partner get at me). i wasn’t even intending on seriously watching it, more just background noise, but within minutes i was hooked. my wife walked by the tv a couple times before just sitting down and watching the whole (almost 4 hour iirc) movie with me. we didn’t even say anything, just an incredibly engrossing movie from start to finish. some of the strongest colours and visuals i’ve ever seen. i think about it all the time
