one of those things with being a fan of a director that the Blob decided decades ago were "laughably bad" is you can always tell when people aren't even engaging with their work and just repeating what everybody else thinks. even with a director i don't particularly like, zack snyder, i thought rebel moon part 1 was painfully unfinished but part 2 was actually a really solid movie. not my style for various reasons, but i can see why somebody would get into him. but then the most boring people in the world will be like "snyder can't even make a movie xD" like please try actually engaging with art even if you don't like it. just fucking lame, man. i remember ages ago back on twitter people were making fun of clip from Old and i couldn't really figure out why, it was just "normal" heightened dialogue like you'd find in a ton of movies. but ah right, everybody decided that shyamalan is dumb so when dialogue sounds a certain way it must be because he's an idiot not because he's actually doing something artistic. frustrating!

I can't stand Snyder's work but I can see that he's doing something with it. He has a specific and defined aesthetic and I can see why someone would prefer the look and tone of, for example, his DC movies over the sterile look and feel of Disney's Marvel films. He's got ideas of what superheroes or science fiction are and could be beyond "a way to make a lot of money." But because those ideas are anathema to what I want out film, I peaced out post Army of The Dead and I feel better for it.
