i am woefully uneducated on hong kong action movies, like old jackie chan movies, etc. i've only seen a handful of bruce lee movies. so, where should i start??

I have not seen that many, and can't point you towards any hidden gems, but Police Story and Hard Boiled both absolutely deserve their reputations.
this is like recommending Hamlet to someone who wants to learn about Shakespeare, but like you should see Hamlet.
i've seen hard boiled but not police story, maybe i'll throw that on tonight. thanks!
it's older, and can drag a bit, but theirs a reason it launched Jackie Chan's career. make sure you watch the behind the scenes stuff that plays during the credits.
