(For newcomers: This tag has gone 2 months strong with a simple prompt: Every Wednesday, share a song that is either by a non-US/UK/Canadian artist, or not in English. Cohost needs more music blogging -- you can help!)
Today's song is by Katja Riemann, a German actress who's been in a lot of stuff but whom I know from the 1997 film Bandits (not to be confused with the 2001 Billy Bob Thornton film), which I can confidently assert is the best film about a band that breaks out of prison, hooks up with then ditches an underwear model, and meets their demise to the dulcet sounds of Saint Etienne's "Hobart Paving."
Riemann (clearly) also has a couple albums, primarily jazz standards. Nachtblende is the trip-hop outlier1 and, to me at least, much more interesting. I very nearly posted the track after this, "Hier und jezst," which is a perfect disco track. But there are so many perfect disco songs; meanwhile, it's evening and it's raining, and what's thus called for is slinky, Massive Attack-y night music to turn the room into a grotto.
