hey, so, just because someone is a prolific contributor to open source, doesn't mean we should excuse them from being a right-wing fucksitck,

Hold these people accountable for their terribleness, shun them from the community. They have no place in it.

This is prevalent all over Open Source, and it's a huge problem, and it's just so exhausting seeing these objectively shitty people get looked up to.

"Don't bring politics into software/hardware/etc" - Fuck you, nothing is apolitical, if you think it is you're ignorant or lying.

Im gunna be hilariously honest with you chief, Historically this has resulted in a goofy amount of shit disappearing from Open Source, and then people bitching about it, so Its very exciting to watch it happen again in "time is a flat circle" fashion.

Its putting the beartrap down, and then being mad when you step in the beartrap later.

and it just.

keeps.

happening.

What on earth are you talking about?

And so what if teling right-wing dipshits to fuck off causes some projects to go belly up, better people who care about the project itself always tend to come along and pick it up or fork it,

I mean i thought i was talking pretty plain. the attitude of, "this massive group can FUCK off," usually ends up biting things in the ass, and, historically, it has bitten things in the ass.

"we have better people to do it anyway," doesn't exactly pan out, all the time. Especially when this started by talking about people making prolific contributions to the space.

i really appreciate you saying this, and i wish more people actively spoke up against this instead of making excuses for people saying that it's more important than politics. it's a clear-cut indicator that they are privileged as hell and politics don't affect them like it does marginalized communities, or if they are part of those communities, they don't mind selling out their communities for some tradeoffs.

having a talent or contribution doesn't make you immune to accountability.
