the thing about evangelizing firefox is that there's a lot of talk about making sure the web isn't just chrome and keeping the web open, which is good and important, but also we lose sight of telling people about functionality that chrome doesn't have like:

  • did you know that firefox lets you hold shift while right-clicking to prevent websites from hijacking the context menu

Maybe some of those aren't Firefox exclusive but

  • middle click on the Reload button to duplicate the current tab (I learnt about this one a few weeks ago, blew my fucking mind)
  • Multi-Accounts Containers are (IMO) much more convenient than "profiles". I know I rarely need an entire "browser instance" with a specific set of cookies/extensions but I do need to quickly check one tab with a specific account or whatever.
  • Firefox's Reader Mode is pretty good. Idk how it compares to Chrome's one (who got it fairly recently) but it's there.

I'm sure there are more but I can't think of any rn

Multi-Account Containers and userChrome.css are the biggest features for me. It's not quite as easy to customize as in the XUL era1, but it's a lot more than other browsers provide.

  1. For an example of customization pre-Quantum, my favorite is the LCARS theme.

TabSessionManager helps a lot too if you run enough addons that it crashes more than chrome, or want to have the same tabs per-machine, and sideberry is treeStyleTabs with more features. together they replaced my Tab Outliner workflow that was keeping me with chrome.
