linux nerds: let me nerd snipe you

i used to be a linux nerd too, and i need help

i have sick reasons (making a new CSS library) and the Murrine GTK2 engine is something i'm trying to draw inspiration from... but all the screenshots online are really low quality

i'd love to actually run Murrine in a Linux VM so i can look at it

i haven't used Linux desktop stuff actively in 10 years, and i'm a bit rusty

would anyone be able to confirm if i could get that running on a modern distro? my worries is that if i installed an older distro it'd just need to download packages that aren't hosted any more. i don't think any old distros came with Murrine on the disk, but i could be wrong.

shiiiiit nice. which distro? i do have an ancient laptop that's barely managing to run uh, fedora or some shit. i wonder if they have mate. that would be nicer than running a VM anyways <3
