the thing i hate the most abt the average approach to accessibility is that, when the choice is "1% chance to occasionally mildly inconvenience someone whose equipment is high-quality and fully-functional and body is in abnormally-high function" vs "make it impossible for people with uneven hearing or a broken speaker to use your software at all", the first option is considered far more of a problem and they take the latter. it's so goddamn annoying. watching my fellow developers do this and explain in-depth so condescendingly how mildly inconvenient it would possibly be for some occasional persons to have this feature, like i dont fucking know the ""problem"" they were trying to solve already, is infuriating.
