I just realized this was a mistake, I was using the falstad circuit simulator for a while in learning electrical stuff, specifically seeing how some stuff worked. I only found out this was a mistake just now because I gave it a verified-working wiring for something, with verified-working filters, and the filters aren't working. the caps are switching instantly despite being connected correctly and having their real values.
that explains a LOT here, and tells me I need to entirely redo a bunch of learning I did over the past year
i probably should have known that the signal supplies would be too perfect
