here's a screenshot of the analytics "age and gender" section for my youtube channel right now. I know for a fact that over 8% of my recent views come from women who I know personally, which I can only know because my viewcount is in an extremely low area but high enough for me to get this kind of analytics.
the videos which have gotten my most view time recently are also explicitly directed towards terminally-online lesbians
basically: this box is completely useless and the algorithm which determines the piece of information that goes into it is self-enforcing and makes a lot of obviously-sexist assumptions at this point. If I uploaded a video of me applying makeup for a drag performance, talking about what I apply to my beard to make it pop just right, I guarantee it would cause a "female" blip there. Due to being a makeup video, not due to suddenly gaining viewers who are women (which my videos already have).
