(text is dry and difficult; my writing is usually nearly-incomprehensible until I do a comprehension pass then a re-personalizing pass. I am only doing the comprehension pass on this)
I recently lost the entirety of my right eardrum and a small amount of my middle ear, and have to spend / have spent a bunch of money (itemized list at end of post) to keep my career in the only work anyone's ever actually paid me for, soundtrack composition. So I'm opening emergency commissions. Work will start on Sunday July 14 2024 at the latest, and I expect to run these until Wednesday August 14 2024, or I have made $1kCAD from them, whichever comes first.
I will compose music, using my Sonic Overture 95 / Cat Facts Monday instrument & mix template, for you. The audio file above is two examples of what that template sounds like. Here are the prices in canadian dollars (CAD):
- $10 give me a vague description on a throw-out payment over liberapay and I will make whatever I interpret that to mean (you are encouraged to be as silly and/or vague as you would like). I will have a time limit in the process and may stream making these if I get a few.
- $40 send a discord account for me to reach out to into my ask inbox, and I will get in touch with you. I will attempt to understand what you're looking for, then write it. Overall length limit of 40 seconds. One small revision. No live instruments (only cat facts template).
- $85 send a discord account for me to reach out to into my ask inbox, and I will get in touch with you. I will attempt to understand what you're looking for, then write it, making sure to check with you a few times during writing that it's on the correct path. Overall length limit of 1 minute. Two large revisions. Can request live fretted bass.
- $145 same as $85 except the live bass can be fretless, length limit of one minute thirty seconds, and you can request a vocal performance. I am a low baritone with primarily heavy metal experience, including screaming. I don't know why you would want screaming with the cat facts instruments, but I encourage enthusiasm if you do.
Liberapay (payment platform) link, for the $10CA section:
Itemized list of what I need to spend / have already spent a bunch of money on, in order of how much I expect to spend on it relative to normal:
- Logistics related to audiologist appointments, as well as the appointments themselves if I do not receive coverage.
- Headphones with a better seal. After a few minutes with headphones on, the pressure syncs up and I can hear what's coming from the headphones normally. My current headphones drop seal frequently so I suddenly lose a bunch of hearing again if I move a bit.
- Ear protection for showering
- Food (mainly just that the extreme stress has resulted in difficulties with groceries)
- PTSD medication (the extreme stress has resulted in more frequent need to use my as-needed 'handbrake' medication, cannabis. this is expensive as my prescription expired a few years ago and I've had to purchase recreational cannabis from the dispensary)
update before my original "latest start date" (I have already started working)
Two comms so far, both $145, both anonymous. I am about 30% to the financial limit I set for these. The headphones are on their way ATM and it's offset the cost of medication so far on top of that.
If you want to chuck the $10 ones at me I will indeed stream doing that if I get 3 or more. Expect "canadian digital clown attempts to make staring at Renoise interesting for multiple hours". Like genuinely just something that seems incredibly unappealing from description. Like "name 1000 women", a furry sitting at a spreadsheet application for a full day discussing the thing in the spreadsheet. Except it's a music spreadsheet, instead of a women spreadsheet. Please pay $10 to watch me stare at a spreadsheet for 8+ cumulative hours.
