i started playin yakuza 1 today. im only abt an hour in but im honestly just floored by how good it looks. i never played much of any ps2 games and i just. didnt know u could make them looks so good on that thing. rly glad i didnt pick up kiwami. im probably missing out on qol stuff but im way more interested in how this game looks
also the dub performance is weird. its good enough to not take me out of it, at least not much. it feels very of its time in ways i mostly consider good. and mark hamill is there.
5 hours in now and yea folks. its peak. i was originally gonna try to keep a pretty brisk pace bc theres a lot of these games and i wanna play more of them. i thought i would b immune to the siren call of so many little minigames and quests bc i played a bit of zero and it never quite got me with that. here though? i can tell why they only ever added onto the side stuff as they went on. playing a more restrained version of that is making a way better starting point. the world is the perfect size where i can keep finding my way to destinations while going through streets and alleys i havent crossed before and running into new things. in a normal game id never give a shit abt a secret casino unless it had a cool prize or something. but when i almost get scammed by some lady and beat up the staff of a bar and they try to pay me off but i tell them to go fuck themselves so they tell me the password to the secret casino? THEN im invested as FUCK in that casino dude. not enough to spend longer than 10 minutes there, but thats ten times longer than i wouldve spent there normally! enough to get a special golden plate worth a bunch of money! anyway, games good. ill probably post more abt it.
