i think it's nice that a lot of people have thursday AND friday off to celebrate music friday, since friday is thursday in, uh... the southern hemisphere? i don't know how timezones work.

what i do know about is music friday
the weekly event of the century,
  the one,
   the only,
 the greatest,
  the coolest,

the day of the week in which the stars are aligned and we are, each of us, permitted to answer the question:

what was a really fucking good song you heard this week?

in reply to @mrfb's post:

So this week I went through a couple of the artists in my library and I applied the goat tag to them, then I have a playlist in Plex that just has all the songs from goated artists in release order that I haven't listened to in the last two weeks.

Which is all to say... I've been listening to a lot of Tenniscoats this week, and I absolutely love Cup of Freedom off of Yaki-Läki, their collaboration album with Estonian musician Pastacas.

listened to a 2018 ep by a guy called Your Old Droog who people apparently used to think was secretly nas until it turned out he was a white dude from brooklyn with kind of a similar voice..... but regardless his music is good enough to warrant the comparison imo. anyways his song no message is really good, and i always appreciate the rare 7-minute rap song with no beat changes or anything

I got two:

  1. Alice's Restaurant (Thanksgiving Day Massacre) is a thanksgiving tradition in my house, and it has a timeless message of "Fuck the Police"
  2. It's not new, or even new to me this week, but it came up on the drive down to visit friends: Slaid Cleaves' "Quick as Dreams". It's also in the running for "Saddest Song I know."
